The Railway Recruitment Board operates under 21 divisional zonal railway jurisdictions that come directly under the bureaucratic authority of the Railway Bhawan and the Railway Recruitment Control Board (RRCB) located in New Delhi. They supervise the recruitment process allocated for all Indian railways recruitment for positions in the Group A, B, C, D cadres and the level 1 to 7 of the 7th central pay commission.
The RRB Indian railway comprises the following railway metro rail departments stationed Central Railway, Eastern Railway, East Central Railway, East Coast Railway, Northern Railway, South Central Railway and so more.
Railway Bhawan and the RRCB
Headquartered in New Delhi, the Railway Bhawan houses the Ministry of Railways recruitment administering the railway recruitment board members including Rail Coach Factory (RCF), Indian Railway Construction International Limited (IRCON), Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL), Indian Railway Personnel Service (IRPS) and others. The Ministry of Railways recruitment assigns the Railway Recruitment Control Board to conduct the following:

- Hire recruitment agencies across India
- Create allowances on the work assignments for different RRBs
- Follow proper conduct on railway policies and procedures.
