LSG V/S CSK : KRUNAL PANDYA’S DISAPPOINTING EXIT FROM CAPTAINCY DEBUT

An optimistic LSG captain debut for all-rounder Krunal Pandya backfired when the 45th IPL match commissioned a golden duck title when waged against Chennai Super Kings at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.

Hardik Pandya’s kin Krunal Pandya was bespoke to substitute KL Rahul after sighting his injuries.

History Relapses

The first batsman to ever get side-lined as a golden duck in the captaincy race was Deccan Charger’s VVS Laxman when his team battled it out against KKR in a 2008 IPL match.

The second batsman to follow the trail was Sunrisers Hyderabad’s skipper Aiden Markram when he confronted LSG in the 2023 IPL.

An unappealing test series

Krunal Pandya has been recorded as the 3rd batman to be ducked out with no score as a debut captain. Krunal Pandya was positioned as a proxy skipper for KL Rahul in a match against Chennai Super Kings and was embarrassingly ousted without dodging a single blow.

The toss designated LSG to bat first by CSK which soon intimidated LSG’s opening form as it ran without their skipper KL Rahul. LSG’s opening pair Kyle Mayers and Manan Vohra were dissolved for 14 when CSK spinner Moeen Ali ransacked LSG with his first wicket.

Ace CSK players Maheesh Theekshana and Ajinkya Rahane plundered the LSG front board that stood on 18/1 in 3.4 overs unless skipper Krunal Pandya was slithered further down stooping LSG’s record at 27/3 in 5.5 overs.

Nevertheless, the latter half of LSG’s game picked up pace with a 34/4 in 6.5 overs with Marcus Stoinis and Karan Sharma in hand. LSG further proceeded to lengthen their score grounds marking 100-runs in 17.2 overs.

Eventually right after LSG settled the game for 125/7 in 19.2 overs the match was obstructed with a rain-pour that soon conceded as the umpires neutralized the game with one point each to the two teams.
