About Us
In order to support the future growth, development, and quality of life of the UAE, Nawah Energy Company is aiming to safely and reliably generate power from nuclear energy. Nawah Energy Company (Nawah) was established in 2016 as a Joint Venture subsidiary of the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) and the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO). It is in charge of operating and maintaining Units 1 through 4 at the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant, the first nuclear energy plant in the UAE and the Arab World, which is situated in the Al Dhafra Region of Abu Dhabi.
The Nawah nuclear power plant uses nuclear energy to provide low-carbon electricity that is safe, dependable, clean, and sustainable. This improves the quality of life for current and future generations while also assisting in the social and economic development of the UAE. Nawah will use the four units at Barakah to produce up to 5,600 megawatts of energy, meeting about 25% of the UAE‘s electricity needs while placing safety as its top priority and adhering to the strictest international standards in the nuclear sector.
