ARJIT SINGH’S BIRTHDAY:THE BIRTH OF A MUSICAL MAESTRO

Familial grounds

Widely known to keep a low profile, Arjit Singh was born in 1987 in West Bengal to a Punjabi-Bengali duo. His mother and maternal aunt are deemed to be his musical espionage drawing his musical lessons at such a young age.

The promising artist grew to idolize prominent musicians such as Kishore Kumar, Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, Zakir Hussain, Hemant Kumar, are among other. He later found his soul-mate Koel Roy, his childhood friend, to whom he made marriage vows in 2014.

Musical life span

  • At the age of 9 he gained a Classical music training government scholarship
  • He was introduced to Indian Classical music by Master Rajendra Prasad Hazari and he mastered tabla lessons under the guidance of Dhirendra Prasad Hazari
  • Arjit Singh bettered the arts of pop music and Bengali music under the instruction of Virendra Prasad Hazari
  • His musical roots first stepped into the spotlight in 2005 through reality shows ‘Fame Gurukal’ and ’10 ke 10 le gaya dil’.
  • His budding musical aspiration came to play when he performed freelance singing assisting noteworthy music directors such as Vishal-Shekhar, Pritam Chakraborty, Shankar Ehsaan Loy and others.
  • His musical cue niched fame when he got his big break in the industry by performing playback singing for notable tracks such as “Tum Hi Ho”, “Hawayein”, “Kabira”, “Ae dil hain Mushkil”, “Muskurane”, “Enna Sona”, and others.
  • He soon emerged as the most sought out singing sensations bagging him consecutive accolades such as Filmfare awards, National Film awards to being the most streamed Spotify artist.

 

Other interests

The Multifaceted music prodigy had also developed keen interests for badminton, cinematography and humanitarian works. In 2015 he directed his first Bengali movie namely “Bhalobashar Rojnamcha” or “A chronicle of love”. His philanthropic ideologies formed his charitable trust “Let there be light” to serve the community better.
