Things were not just easy for Kamala Khan, In the premiere episode of Ms. Marvel on Disney+, our cherished Jersey City girl discovered that a cool heirloom accessory from her grandma unlocked some next-level superpowers that she didn’t even know she had. In this week’s episode, she really gets on with the hot new guy in school — but you know things aren’t that simple if you’re a character in a Marvel Studios production. There is some difficulty that Kamala’s gonna have to clear, and one of them appears at the end of the episode.
There is a whole lot to unwrap after the end of Ms. Marvel Episode 2, so much so that we got to throw up a SPOILER warning for everyone who hasn’t finished this week’s episode. Who is Kamran? What’s up with Kamala’s Nani and that bangle? And who is that mystery woman? Enough stalling — let’s just get to the secret.
This week’s episode is created around that classic teen storyline, the one where a hot new dude shows up in school and, even though everyone has the hots for him, he actually shows interest in the nerdy girl. His name is Kamran ( Rish Shah ) and he is more than enough to distract Kamala from the fact that she has superpowers.
Even though she is aware that her family would disapprove of all of this, she starts to very quickly ignore Bruno and their training sessions in order to ride about with Kamran. Then, in the episode’s concluding scene, we learn a shocking revelation: Kamran wasn’t simply hanging out with Kamala because they both enjoy the same movies and come from similar cultural backgrounds. Because he actually knows the mysterious woman from Kamala’s visions (Nimra Bucha), he was hanging out with her. His mother, she is.

This tale has so far adhered to the comics’ largest themes. In the comics, Kamala first meets Kamran as a potential love interest before learning that he also possesses superpowers.
They got along great… and after that, Kamran gave Kamala to Lineage, his gangster boss. The comics and what we’ve seen so far on the show diverge in a few key ways. Keep in mind that Kamran’s parents were regular humans and that Lineage was not his father (as far as we know). The origin story of Kamala the superhero has undergone so many modifications that we shouldn’t really make any assumptions. It’s plausible that Kamran is not a sidekick and that this mysterious woman is not a supervillain, just as Kamala is no longer an Inhuman with stretchy powers like she was in the books. The only thing we can infer is that she is aware of Kamala’s relationship with that bangle.
Nimra Bucha portrays the role of the character Najma. At the dinner table and later when Kamala was using her powers, she initially appeared to her in a vision. The only information we have about Najma is that she is the mother of Kamran and somehow connected to the bangle. All we are certain of is that.

The fact that Najma may be Kamala’s great-grandmother Aisha would make sense given how much of Episode 2 focused on her family history. After all, we just learned about Aisha’s disappearance the evening her husband and daughter boarded the final train to Karachi when the first vision occurred. But since Najma and Aisha have separate Funko Pops, they are unquestionably two different characters. I can’t believe I’m citing this as proof.
